Gary King

BA (Hons), MSc (Psych), FRSA, MBPsS

I am Gary, and my passion lies in the growth and development of individuals. I specialise in guiding those I work with to overcome fears and anxieties, embracing challenges, and unlocking their true potential on their personal journey of adventure! I cater to a diverse range of individuals, including senior leaders, career changers, and those facing various life challenges and transitions.

Driven by my values, ethics, and personal commitment to growth, I transitioned from a sales background to immerse myself in over a decade of academic study and personal development. This journey led me to work with people and assist them in their own developmental paths. Since 2017, my primary focus has been on cultivating "new leadership," which, akin to "regenerative leadership," aims to elevate the consciousness of leaders to navigate the complexities of our VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world. The ever-increasing complexity of our society can be overwhelming, and my aim is to support individuals in rising above these challenges.

My transformational journey began in 2009 when I enrolled as a mature student at the University of Bedfordshire, studying Sport & Adventure Recreation. During this time, I delved into the fields of Psychology, Sociology, and adventure. Solo Expeditioning, in particular, captivated my interest, as it allowed me to explore my physical and psychological limits, observe the impact on decision-making, and gain insights into stress and anxiety. These experiences had a profound impact on my personal growth, including a transformative "Peak Experience" in the Pyrenees. Subsequently, I pursued Psychology, completing an MSc at the University of Hertfordshire.

As a facilitator, I have specialised in experiential development, often taking place outdoors in nature. I firmly believe in the numerous benefits of connecting with the natural environment and tailored my studies towards outdoors and adventure education during my university years. Since 2017, I have immersed myself in the study of "Biomimicry," which I integrate into my facilitation and coaching practice. Biomimicry teaches us to learn from nature's wisdom, recognising that nature holds billions of years of inspiration and knowledge.

In 2020, I embarked on coach training with Wise Goose Coaching and am currently compiling my Advanced Coaching Portfolio. As a coach, I am continuously refining my style, aiming to adapt and cater to the diverse needs and perspectives of my clients.

I dedicate my coaching services as a volunteer to two organisations. Create Community, a local Community Interest Company, is one of them, renowned for providing a wide array of invaluable services to the community. The other organisation is Embercombe, well-known for offering immersive programmes and courses centred around personal growth, development, and regeneration.

I hold a graduate membership with the British Psychological Society (BPS), a full membership with the Association for Coaching, a membership with the BMC, a fellowship with the RSA, and I am also a member of the UK Values Alliance. I maintain full insurance coverage. I have successfully completed my Advanced Coaching training, accredited by AC, through the esteemed Wise Goose Coaching. I anticipate receiving my accreditation in early 2023.

Additionally, I hold the role of Co-Founder & Director within a Consultancy that is dedicated to driving and achieving Positive Impact.
